Carlsbad, CA firm will take part in three concurrent five-year programs upgrading facilities in the Navy’s Southwest Area of Responsibility

RQ Construction of Carlsbad, CA, a design/build specialist with a primary focus on Department of Defense projects, has been awarded three Department of the Navy Multiple Award Construction Contracts (MACC) totaling $1.5 billion in the Southwest Area of Responsibility covering California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico.

The first contract was awarded to RQ Construction as part of RQ-Berg JV, a joint venture with Bergelectric. The joint venture is one of seven firms to participate in the $300 million MACC for dry utilities construction, a five-year program for new construction, addition, repair, or upgrade of electrical distributions, lighting systems, cable television lines, airfield lighting, and communication transmission lines.

A $300 million MACC for wet utilities construction was awarded to RQ as part of a joint venture with J.R. Filanc Construction. This five-year program will include new construction, additions, alterations, and repairs. Projects may include water, steam, sewer, and storm sewer lines; wells, mains, pumping stations, treatment plants, storage tanks, and facilities; and related work. All structures that are integral parts of the water, steam, and sewer networks are included.

RQ Construction is one of nine firms to participate in the $900 million MACC for Commercial and Institutional Building Construction. This five-year program will include administration buildings, school buildings, hospitals, auditoriums, fire stations, gymnasiums, office buildings, hangars, laboratories, and parking structures.
