RQ is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the 2014 SAME San Diego Post Project of Excellence for the Total Army School System Training Center project at Camp Parks in Dublin, California. The Total Army School System (TASS) Training Center project was designed and built to serve the 80th Training Division of the Army Reserves. This 48,649 square foot project is comprised of three facilities – a Training Center, a Vehicle Maintenance Shop, and a Storage Building. The Training Center was completed safely, on time, and within budget, with a final rating of “Above Average” from our client.
The TASS Training Center and the Vehicle Maintenance Shop both achieved LEED Gold Certification. RQ’s experience and understanding of the specific site and climate of Dublin, California permitted appropriate primary passive design strategies, materials, and building systems to maximize energy reduction of the TASS Training Center at Camp Parks. The Training Center accomplished a 40% energy reduction, while the Vehicle Maintenance Shop achieved 45%.
This project had no lost time incidents in 76,308 manhours worked. A project specific safety plan was developed by the team to ensure that all safety aspects were addressed. Prior to entering the Base, all subcontractors completed online ATFP Level 1 training in order to work on-site. Subcontractors were also required to complete a job site orientation in which they were educated on the RQ expectations and safety requirements. In an effort to keep safety at the forefront of the minds of all construction personnel, weekly ‘all hands’ meetings were held, covering various relevant safety topics.
