This fully functioning dental facility and headquarters to support 2nd Dental Battalion has the capability to provide safe and efficient comprehensive general and specialty care to more than 45,000 active-duty personnel. This facility also provides command oversight to Marine Corps dental facilities at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, and MCAS Beaufort.
Construction consisted of demolition and replacement of existing facilities. RQ completed construction of this 70,295 square foot, two story steel framed building with masonry walls, including a partial third floor mechanical penthouse and lite gauge metal truss system with standing seam metal roof. The facility included 46 dental rooms, including general exam dental rooms, orthodontic dental rooms, surgical rooms, and prosthetic dental rooms. Also included were x-ray machine rooms, full laboratories, decontamination rooms and sterilization rooms. All necessary support features and equipment, including medical gas, air, water, oral evacuation, surgical vacuum, and natural gas utilities, were provided. Offices, teaching classrooms, and several conference/consultation rooms were also included in the building.
