P-256 EA-18G Maintenance Hangar, Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, Washington
This project provides facilities for two EA-18G expeditionary squadrons VAQ-143/144 that do not have available hangar and support facilities on station, including a 50,946 SF Type 1 EA-18G maintenance hangar housing 4 EA-18G airplanes, a 4,660 SF Armament Storage building for storage of EA-18G pylons and bomb racks, and a 32,000 maximum square foot Mobile Maintenance Facility (MMF) storage pad for storage of 72 MMF.
Additionally, the project includes the upgrade of aircraft parking capacity by providing 5 Flight Line Electrical Distribution Systems (FLEDS) on the existing aircraft parking apron for parking 5 EA-18G aircraft. Parking expansions will accommodate 215 private owned vehicles. Existing Building 115 will be demolished. Temporary hangar facilities were constructed to replace Hangar 1 space until the new hangars were constructed and occupied. Temporary hangar facilities were removed by RQ at the project completion as part of this project.
