Aircraft Paint Complex, Naval Base Coronado, California
The primary function of the new building is to provide an area to perform aircraft corrosion control. The building contains four paint bays, one corrosion control bay and one blast bay. Two of the paint bays are divisible by a movable folding partition to provide flexibility with supporting one larger, or two smaller, aircraft in the bay at a time. Support spaces consist of entry vestibules with unisex restrooms and air showers.
This project is constructed to accommodate a variety of aircraft, including the F/A-18E/F, MV-22, CH-60, E-2C, and CH-53E. The interior layout consists of two 12,400-SF paint bays (each divisible with a movable panel partition), a corrosion control bay of 6,200-SF, and a blast cell of 6,600-SF.
