P1048 Electrical Upgrades, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California
This design-build project, performed within a previous Dry Utilities MACC, involved the new construction and renovation of three 12kV metering stations fed from concurrently constructed San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) 12kV substations located in the south, mid, and north areas of Camp Pendleton. These metering substations are referenced as Metering Stations 1, 2, and 3. Additionally, construction included 12kV overhead (approximately 25 miles) and underground (approximately 9 miles) distribution systems feeding all major portions of the Base and providing tie lines between the substations. The metering stations and distribution system that they feed is Base-owned and provides more flexibility, reliability, and cost savings. This project also features exterior lighting systems, SCADA security controls, and grounding systems for the pad-mounted transformers and conductors.
